Could the inside of a piano smell like last year’s autumn sunshine?
I don’t know, I’ve never put my head inside a piano before, but I’m sure it could in my mind’s eye.
That’s the power of imagination. It takes us places we never even considered places before. A widening of the field of perception and a drifting back to the shore of every day life.
The mind is a springy elasticized muscle who loves to be exercised. If you take one step towards it, it will take two. Always willing to meet you more than half way.
So we keep it well exercised by looking into old pianos and sensing what the smell like. It works even if you don’t have a piano!
A lot of paintings come from there as well (not the inside of pianos, but that’s not a bad place to look).
That part of the creative imagination that can stretch itself to infinite possibility and then spring back and manifest on the canvas.
That’s a lot of springing but it keeps life interesting as I hope these paintings here are.
Have a lovely day.
